The "Find File" utility in System 7.5 is really cool (finally, the Finder deserves its name !) but it would be even cooler if the app would quit when you open an item from the "Result" window.
This little patch will modify Find File version 1.1.1 (from System 7.5 update 1.0) so that the app automatically quits when you open, print, do a get info on, or open the folder of any found items.
Only tested with the french version 1.1.1, but the patch only change CODE and CREL resources, which should be the same for any localized version.
Before using this patch, make a copy of the Find File application, patch the copy and open it (double-clikc on it, if you use the Find item in the File menu of the Finder, you may launch the original Find File). Search for some file. When the list of found items appear, select some items and double-click them. Find File should now automatically quit. If everything works fine, you can replace the Find File application in the Apple Menu Folder with the patched one. If you want to keep the orignal application, either keep it on a floppy or compress it (with Stuffit or Compact Pro) so that it becomes a document instead of an application. If you leave both the patched and the original application on your hard disk, you'll never know which one will open when you use the Find item in the Finder !
This patch is free, you can distribute it freely, and you can include it on CD-ROMs.
